The presentation of candidacies and the announcement of Odysseus 2021 will be made during the conference dinner on Thursday June 7. The original session on Odysseus 2021 will not be held on Tuesday afternoon and we will leave for the excursion to Barumini after the lunch. Please note that there is not sufficient time to go back to your hotel after the lunch. The meeting point for the excursion is in front of the conference venue 2:20 p.m. (even for accompanying persons). Next, we will walk to viale Buon Cammino to take the bus at 2:30 (hopefully). Please, be on time. The visit in Barumini will start at 4:00 p.m.
A conference app is available. It is called Odysseus 2018 and can be downloaded from Apple Store and Play Store. The app can be used to read and download the conference program and the book of abstracts.

Hereafter, some advices are reported to make your staying in Cagliari more enjoyable.
The temperature will range between 18°C and 28°C during the week of the conference and the weather will be good.
You are advised to have a comfortable pair of shoes for the excursion to the Nuraghe of Barumini on Tuesday June 5. Do not forget swimming trunks, towels, sun cream and sunglasses for the excursion to the beach of Chia on Wednesday June 6.
You can wear more formal clothes during the conference dinner on Thursday June 7.
The schedule of excursions is listed in the conference program. The meeting point for all the excursions in the entrance of the conference venue. Please, be on time.

The registration desk will open on Sunday June 3 at 4:00 p.m. in the Green Room of the Conference Venue (Cittadella dei Musei, Piazza Arsenale 1, Cagliari), which is in front of the Archaeological Museum.
You are advised to visit (for free) the Archaeological Museum. Two guides will introduce (in Italian and English) the old history of Sardinia to groups of about 30 persons attending Odysseus 2018 since 4:30 pm. The guided tour takes about one hour.
The welcome buffet will start at 7:30 pm.
Last but not least, you should arrive at the conference venue by 8:00 p.m, because the entrance is not allowed after this time for safety reasons.

It is the time to start thinking about the next Odysseus conference. It will take place in 2021 and, as imagined initially, it will take place somewhere within the Homeric territory. Well, “Homeric” in a very broad sense, from the Black Sea (Pontus Euxinus) to Morocco and the isles in the Atlantic in front of Spain, Portugal and Morocco where, so one legend says, the Garden of the Hesperides once was. 🙂
We call upon you for proposals for Odysseus 2021. Group some friends, find a good location, and make a proposal to the participants. The proposal will be presented on Tuesday afternoon. We will then all vote, probably during the conference dinner, to chose. Please let us know that you intend to make a proposal by emailing Theo or Massimo:

Many people missed the deadline of the early bird registration (February 28). Therefore, it is extended up to March 10. Notice that, in order to be included in the final program, at least one of the authors must register to the workshop before the new early registration deadline (March 10) and a full registration must be paid for each presentation.
