Scientific Program

The scientific program of HTC 2027 will feature keynote lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, and thematic discussions dedicated to the latest advances in hydrothermal carbonization and hydrochar science.

The symposium will bring together researchers, engineers, industry representatives, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in the field.

The detailed program will be published closer to the symposium.

Program Structure

The symposium will include the following components:

Keynote Lectures

Keynote lectures will be delivered by leading international researchers working on hydrothermal carbonization, biomass conversion, and carbon materials.

These lectures will provide an overview of recent developments and future research directions.

Scientific Sessions

Thematic scientific sessions will host oral presentations selected from submitted abstracts.

Sessions will be organized around key topics such as:

  • hydrothermal carbonization fundamentals
  • hydrochar characterization and stability
  • HTC reactor and process engineering
  • environmental assessment and life cycle analysis
  • applications of hydrochar and/or process water
  • industrial HTC technologies

Poster Sessions

Poster sessions will provide an opportunity for researchers to present their work and engage in direct discussions with other participants.

Dedicated poster viewing times will be scheduled to encourage interaction and networking.

Networking Opportunities

The symposium will also include opportunities for informal exchange and collaboration among participants.

These may include:

  • welcome reception
  • coffee breaks and poster discussions
  • conference dinner

Preliminary Schedule

The detailed schedule will be announced closer to the event.

The symposium is expected to run over four days, including keynote lectures, technical sessions, and poster presentations.

Further information will be published on this page.

Hydrochar Network General Assembly

In addition to the symposium, a general assembly of the Hydrochar Network will also be held.
