Cagliari, Italy – 8-11 June 2027

Bringing together researchers, industry, and policymakers to advance science and applications of hydrothermal carbonization

Welcome to HTC2027

The 5th International Symposium on Hydrothermal Carbonization (HTC2027) will take place in Cagliari, Italy, hosted by the University of Cagliari and organized by the Hydrochar Network.

The symposium brings together scientists, engineers, industry professionals, and policymakers working on hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) and related thermochemical conversion processes.

The event will provide a platform to present the latest advances in fundamental science, process engineering, environmental assessment, and industrial applications of hydrochar and HTC-based technologies.

A Global Scientific Series

The International Symposium on Hydrothermal Carbonization is a growing global forum dedicated to HTC science and applications.

Previous editions were held in:

  • London, United Kingdom (2017)
  • Berlin, Germany (2019)
  • Seoul, South Korea (2023)
  • New Orleans, USA (2025)

The 2027 edition in Cagliari will continue this international tradition, bringing the community together in the Mediterranean region.
