How to reach Cagliari

Cagliari is connected to the most important european cities by the Elmas – Mario Mameli international airport.

How to reach the city center of Cagliari from the airport

By train: Inside the airport, after the luggage claim, follow the signs to the train station. Take any train going to Cagliari. You can buy a ticket (1,30 euros) on a ticket machine inside the airport or near the train station. The train takes about 5-10 minutes.

By taxi: the taxi fares to the city center are about 18 euros.

How to reach the Cittadella dei Musei

The Cittadella dei Musei is located in the Piazza Arsenale.

It is possible to reach the Cittadella dei Musei from the train station (Piazza Matteotti) by a 20 minute walk, or by bus (CTM bus number 8). There are several stops of the bus number 8 in Largo Carlo Felice, one just in front of La Rinascente. The bus tickets can be bought at the newstand or by the app Bus Finder (Android and iPhone).

To the sea…

The Poetto beach is very close to the town and can be reached by bus or by bike.

By bus: PQ or PF from Piazza Matteotti or Via Roma. It takes 10-15 minutes.

By bike: cabubi (8 euros for the tourist fare). You can find bike stations in Piazza Matteotti or Viale Buoncammino (close to the Cittadella dei Musei).

You can also visit the smaller beach of Calamosca, either by bike or bus number 5/11 or 5Zeus.
