The 1st International Conference on Energy Transition in the Mediterranean Area <\/span><\/strong><\/span>is the starting point of a series of Conferences with the aim of establishing a major energy platform in the region. The Conference will focus on topics of interest to the Energy Challenges in the Mediterranean area. It intends to address the vast technological changes in all areas of the electric energy business, products, equipment, methods, and so on.<\/span><\/td>\n\"\"<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/td>\nSyNERGY MED 2019<\/span><\/strong><\/span> will provide a forum for discussion among researchers, policy-makers, regional and local authorities, renewable energy clusters and main actors\/stakeholders about the energy technology challenges in these regions and solutions for boosting economic and sustainable development.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Blue Mediterranean:<\/strong><\/span> The Mediterranean region is largely dependent on supply from third countries for oil, gas and coal; even though it has exceptional untapped potential for the deployment of renewable energy sources. Furthermore, most regions within the Mediterranean, particularly islands and rural areas are characterised by isolated or weak power networks, which either have a high carbon footprint or pose several market, technical and social barriers to the wider penetration of intermittent Renewable Energy Sources (RES).<\/p>\n

This Conference will significantly benefit engineers and technicians through state-of-the-art presentations by major equipment suppliers, researchers, utility specialists, invited speakers and discussions by international participants. Accepted papers will be published in IEEE Xplore\u00ae.<\/p>\n

StoRES Project<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>Promotion of higher penetration of distributed PV through storage for all<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

StoRES foresees the development of an optimal policy for the effective integration of photovoltaics (PV) and energy storage systems (ESS) via testing smart solutions in 5 MED islands and rural areas. StoRES aims to increase the PV penetration in the energy mix of islands and rural areas in the MED by integrating PV and ESS under an optimal market policy by removing the constraints of grid reliability and RES intermittency. The challenge is to achieve high PV penetration in their energy mix through solving all market\/ technical\/grid\/tariff issues without compromising grid stability and security of supply.<\/p>\n

The project involves regions facing specific needs and challenges: islands with isolated networks, almost 100% fossil-fuel dependency and increasing energy demand; rural areas exhibiting weaker networks, possibly greater energy needs, and higher environmental impact.StoRES focuses on 7 EU countries, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
