How to reach Cagliari
By airplane
Cagliari is served by the Elmas – Mario Mameli international airport, located only 7 km away from the city centre. Short distances and efficient transport links make Cagliari easily and quickly accessible from the airport:
- Train: Elmas Airport train station, is directly connected with the airport with a indoor walkway served by moving pavements. All trains stop at Elmas Airport, with a service every about 20 minutes, active every day of the week from 5.30 to 23.00 (the first train leaves from the airport at 6:37 and from Cagliari at 5:26; le last train leaves from the airport at 23:07 and from Cagliari at 22:00.). The journey to and from downtown takes 5-7 mins, single fare is 1.30 euro. Travel tickets can be purchased at the ticket office, trenitalia self-service machines, travel agencies and affiliated points of sale, as well as directly on Trenitalia website. - Taxi: the fastest way to get to the city center from the airport (and vice versa) is by taxi. A daytime ride to the city center has a minimum fare of € 17 and it takes about 10-15 minutes. By ferry
Daily ferries connect Cagliari with central and southern Italy. The port of Cagliari is situated in the centre of the city and faces directly onto the famous via Roma. It is connected with the Mainland via daily ferry trips (Rome-Civitavecchia, Naples and Palermo), and is also an important landing place to several ships cruising the Mediterranean. Nearby the port, there are the train station as well as the main terminals for local and regional bus lines. All ferry lines from the port of Cagliari are managed by the shipping company Grimaldi Lines.
